My name is Maureen DeGarmo, and I am the owner of Maur Organized, which I opened in 2010 after working in small businesses for over 20 years. My specialties include small-project organizing, which means breaking projects into small, manageable steps; and organizing for clients with traumatic illness.
My organizing background includes teaching workshops for professional organizers and individuals who wish to learn how to streamline and organize for anyone who is living with an illness or injury. I am a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), along with NAPO San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, and past editor of the chapter newsletter.
My Traumatic Illness Story:
20 years is a long time to be tired. It’s also a long time to have a mystery disease, but that is exactly what happened to me. For many years, I worked full time while battling overwhelming fatigue, frequent headaches, flashing lights in my eyes, double vision and dizziness. I went to 30 different doctors, but none could tell me what was wrong.
In May of 2014, I was finally diagnosed with a kind of migraine condition called a Silent Basilar Migraine. Throughout my illness, I have developed a variety of coping skills, which I now use to help others who are affected by Traumatic Illness. My goal is to use my own experience to guide others with wisdom and compassion.
